Building a Sustainable Infrastructure

What We’re Facing

Our nation’s entire infrastructure is crumbling. There are currently more than 200,000 bridges in the US that are more than 50 years old. Our electrical grid was built during the middle of the 20th century and is now operating beyond its original life expectancy. Many of our one million pipes have been in use for almost 100 years, and more than 15,000 dams have been assessed as high hazards.

If you travel the 91 and the 15 freeways, you can see how our region has grown into a busy and popular transportation hub. Goods are transported on our roads from the busiest ports throughout the country. Our reputation as one of the most cost-effective transportation corridors in the country is driving the need to add lanes to our highways, develop new transportation routes, and maintain our heavily traveled roads and bridges.

Growing Pains

CA42 remains one of the most affordable places to live in Southern California, continuously drawing new residents from more expensive neighboring areas. This is a region where people can still afford a home in a nice neighborhood and settle down to raise a family. But as our population grows, it is becoming painfully evident the additional traffic is straining our infrastructure. Many of us face brutal daily commutes on some of the heaviest traveled roads in the country.

As we continue to grow in CA42, we must also protect our water resources and ensure that our water remains clean and available to all who live here. It is imperative that we form alliances with local, state, and federal agencies to renegotiate Western water rights so that we can meet the demands for the future.

What I Will Do

I will become a strong voice at the forefront of discussions in Washington to ensure that we receive the federal tax dollars needed to fix and future proof our infrastructure. The national economy depends heavily on our transportation corridor, so we must be allocated funding that’s proportionate to the revenue we produce for businesses across the nation. I will push legislation that will provide the support needed to secure and expand the infrastructure that we all depend on daily.
