WHY CA 42 MATTERS
The Future of Southern California
Our congressional district is the future of Southern California. With Orange County and San Diego reaching the peak of home pricing and the cost of living there becoming more and more unaffordable, our region will become the destination for people looking for an affordable place to live in Southern California. This will mean another housing boom for the region, bringing a variety of construction and ancillary jobs, which is a great thing.
But all this growth will also mean increased traffic, additional strain on our energy and water infrastructure, a negative impact on our air quality, increased demand on our school districts and police/fire resources. All of these changes will require that our local, state, and federal governments work together to find solutions for positive, sustainable growth. These solutions will require a leader who understands how government policies and regulations impact the residents, businesses, and the developers and builders who are coming here to make a profit.
In addition, our region has become home to many warehouses and logistics companies. It’s great that these companies have brought these businesses to the Inland Empire, but many of these jobs are low paying and don’t offer health insurance. We must ensure that the ACA remains the law of the land, so that these workers have a way to get health insurance. Otherwise, our State healthcare system, especially our hospitals, will be overburdened with caring for people who cannot pay their bills. In the end, we will be the ones who will have to pay for that, through higher health insurance premiums and overall higher healthcare costs.
To ensure our region has the resources needed to meet the challenges ahead, we will need a leader who understands how government policies and regulations impact the residents, businesses, and the developers and builders who are coming here to make a profit. I am that leader and I want to put my diverse background and boots-on-the-ground experience to work for everyone in CA 42!
